From Burnout to Becoming: My Journey to Purposeful Coaching

Over 30 years ago, I began my nursing journey as a newly divorced mom with a two-year-old on one hip and a six-year-old by my side. I was determined to create a better future, often bringing my daughters with me to prerequisite classes. I’ll never forget the day my six-year-old whispered to my pathophysiology instructor, and he smiled, saying, “Yes, all mommies have eyes in the back of their heads.” Even at six, she was absorbing the environment around her—just as I was learning to trust the path ahead.
Why share this now? Because maybe you’re questioning whether you can handle school, family, career—or just life—and still move toward something meaningful. I’m here to tell you: yes, you can. It won’t be easy. But it will absolutely be worth it.
In 2020, while pursuing my MSN in Administration and Leadership, life handed me some of its heaviest moments. I became a nurse manager in the middle of a global pandemic. I lost my beloved dog, and then my father to COVID—2,000 miles away. Not long after, I lost my mother unexpectedly. And yet, I still graduated in 2021. But by then, I knew something deeper had shifted. The environment I was working in no longer reflected who I was becoming.
So I paused. I took four months to breathe, to reconnect with myself, and to remember what truly matters. Then, I made the hardest and most liberating decision of my career: I walked away from my six-figure leadership role to prioritize my health, my peace, and my purpose.
That leap led me here—to Rise Through Becoming Lifestyle Coaching. I now help women rediscover their inner strength, reconnect with what matters, and rise into the next version of themselves—with grace, intention, and support.
If you’re standing at your own crossroads, know this: your healing, your clarity, and your becoming are possible too.
